Mr. Vogler is a geologist and hydrogeologist with over 35 years of experience in petroleum exploration and production; environmental site assessment; risk assessment; permitting and compliance; and remediation of soil, soil vapor, and groundwater. His field experience includes drilling using hollow stem auger, direct air and mud rotary, and casing hammer methods; core evaluation; well installation and development; soil gas, soil, groundwater, and air sampling; electric logging and electric log interpretation; seismic surveys; and aquifer testing. He has worked on sites in North Carolina, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, California, Hawaii, and Mexico, involving a variety of sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic terrain. His petroleum industry experience includes electric log and seismic geophysical interpretation, preparation of geological structure and sand percent maps, geochemical typing, source rock evaluation, and thermal maturity modeling.
Mr. Vogler presently is a State of California-registered Professional Geologist who has most recently worked over 25 years for Kleinfelder, Inc., a consulting firm of geologists, engineers, other scientists, and construction professionals that provides solutions that improve its clients’ transportation, water, energy, and other private infrastructure. During his tenure with Kleinfelder he has been a member of its Environmental Site Characterization; Environmental Regulatory Compliance; Hydrogeology; and Risk Assessment and Toxicology Practice Groups. He has been responsible for the management and technical development of geologic staff. He also has direct laboratory experience, including X-ray diffraction clay analysis; scanning electron microscopy; electron microprobe analysis; neutron activation analysis; rubidium-strontium mass spectrometry and geochronology; and water quality analysis, including gas chromatography/mass spectrometry and atomic absorption techniques. He has worked on military contracts and Superfund Sites, and his clients have included aerospace firms and other manufacturing companies, financial institutions, legal firms, retail chains, and major oil companies. He has extensive experience negotiating with regulatory agencies, including the California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC); California Division of Oil, Gas, and Geothermal Resources (DOGGR); South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD); many of the California Regional Water Quality Control Boards; and various municipal agencies.
Finally, Mr. Vogler is very active in the geologic community. He is a long time member of AAPG and holds memberships in the following other organizations: Groundwater Resources Association of California (past President of Southern California Chapter); Los Angeles Basin Geological Society (past President); Mineralogical Society of Southern California; Society of Economic Geologists; Southern California Friends of Mineralogy (current Board member); and South Coast Geological Society (current Board President).
