This webinar focuses on the practical application of AI and machine learning. We will walk through the exercise of creating an unsupervised SOM (self-organized map) in Paradise. It includes explaining the simple concepts of Principal Component Analysis - in order to go through data reduction and come up with a "recipe" of seismic attributes to be used in SOM, then go through harvest (learning process) to final analysis. After showing results in the 3-D viewer, the focus turns to creating geobodies out of key neurons and to show how to apply volumetric information to obtain estimated reserves. The presentation includes taking bits and pieces of data from projects to show the principles of Machine Learning and the results. This is a working presentation of the software and how to achieve the results shown in the case histories.

This webinar provides new insights around hydrocarbon migration and an overview from U.S. unconventional perspectives through produced oil geochemistry. Director of Geoscience at Impac Exploration Services in Houston, Texas, Wahid Rahman, uses a case study in the Anadarko Basin to forecast the extent of self-sourced petroleum, its migration, areal extent, hydrocarbon phase behavior and key reservoir engineering properties evaluations for reservoir geochemistry-based exploration.

Featured speaker Jim Puckette of Oklahoma State University dives into silica enrichment in the Woodford and Caney Shales. In the Woodford Shale, silica enrichment is manifested as distinct silica-cemented bands that contain tests of radiolarians, the likely biogenic source of most silica in silica cement. Silica enrichment in the Caney Shale occurs without an obvious biogenic source of Si or developing the banding and beds evident in the Woodford Shale. Puckette notes identifying differences between reservoir and non-reservoir intervals, including density porosity, clay mineral content and resistivity.

As more oil and gas wells are taken out of production, there is an opportunity to reuse their infrastructure for geothermal energy production. These inactive wellbores provide access to subsurface reservoirs of hot water and rock that can be tapped for the commercial development of deep geothermal direct use or power generation projects. Repurposing retired wells reduces costs and environmental impacts versus drilling new wells. It provides a beneficial use for legacy oilfield assets. Geothermal power holds promise as a clean, renewable baseload energy source that could help transition communities away from declining fossil fuel production. Reusing existing well infrastructure for geothermal could support more stable, diversified local economies while making use of energy locked in the subsurface to provide low-carbon heating and electricity for homes and businesses.

This presentation provides an overview of key battery material supply chains and summarizes some of the challenges within them. Led by Founder and Chief Executive Officer of U.S. Critical Minerals and Director of Government Relations for Standard Lithium Jesse Edmondson, the talk focuses on current efforts to develop new domestic sources of lithium, emphasizing the opportunity presented by the Smackover Formation in southern Arkansas and eastern Texas.
