Workshop
Kuwait
Tuesday, 15 April Wednesday, 16 April 2025, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

The evolution of hydrocarbon exploration driven by the diminishing accessibility of conventional large-size hydrocarbon traps has compelled national and international oil and gas companies to scrutinize off-structure prospects and near-field undeveloped or unsuccessful commercial discoveries, discerning root causes of their failures. Through a series of facilitated exercises and discussions, workshop attendees will learn techniques for identifying and evaluating these "off-structure" prospects - ideas, technologies, or phenomena that fall outside the mainstream.

Workshop
Khobar, Saudi Arabia
Monday, 21 October Thursday, 24 October 2024, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

AAPG, EAGE and SEG will hold a joint symposium on the topic of Digitalization in Geosciences from October 21-24, 2024 in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. The primary objective of this symposium is to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration among professionals who are engaged in implementing digitalization technologies and machine learning algorithms  in geoscience applications. The joint effort of EAGE, AAPG and SEG societies aims to set up industry standards on reproducible AI and distribute key solutions on: data standardization and optimization, data quality, storage and model accuracy assessment, performance profiling, code optimizations, pervasive real-time and remote monitoring and more for advanced prototyping and delivery.

Field Seminar
Muscat, Oman
Thursday, 3 October 2024, 7:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

The Late Cretaceous shallow-water carbonates of the Natih Formation are among the most prolific reservoirs in Oman and the surrounding region. These rocks are well exposed in the Al Jabal Akhdar to Adam Foothills region in Northern Oman. This field trip will explore Jebel Madmar, one of the best locations for observing the complete Natih Formation and the different facies of the Natih-e member.

Workshop
Abu Dhabi, UAE
Monday, 27 May Wednesday, 29 May 2024, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

In order to support the energy transition, optimizing exploration and production from complex stratigraphic-diagenetic conventional and unconventional plays remains highly important. At the same time, Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) poses new technological challenges that will impact both the industry and academia for decades to come. This 2nd edition will present reviews and discuss technology developments in geological process-based forward modeling achieved during the last 2 years. New perspectives for future technology developments and implementation in industry workflows will be discussed and with the additional focus on CO₂ storage and other sustainability-related applications, the scope of the workshop will be considerably extended.

Virtual Webinar
Tuesday, 1 September 2020, 8:00 a.m.–9:00 a.m.

The “Great Crew Change” has become the “Competence Train Wreck” due to the repeated personal mis-management practices of our industry and again not anticipating the known volatility of commodity prices. Despite this, hydrocarbon based energy will continue to comprise over 60% of the world’s energy mix for at least the next half century and of that energy need over half of it has yet to be found! Personal experience in working for National Oil Companies, Parastatals, large independent oil companies, small independents, as an independent and as a consultant have given me the perspective of some of the best and some of the worst of the exploration practices the industry has to offer.
